!±8± Appliance Cleaning Tips - How To Get Rid Of Molds On a Washing Machine Gasket

The rubber gasket of your washing machine is a target for molds development. Molds can easily grow in there. If you don't clean it regularly, you can have a moldy washer problem on your hands.

Here is how you can clean the rubber gasket or door seal of your front loader:

Step 1: Remove remaining clothes in the washer drum. Run an empty cycle in the highest water setting and add two cups of white vinegar. Vinegar works in dissolving molds. You can also add a cup of baking soda. It helps diffuse unwanted odor inside the washer. Allow the washer to complete the cleaning cycle.

Step 2: After cleaning, unplug your washer. Let it rest for a few minutes. Wipe the area around the washer clean in case there are pools of water lying there.

Step 3: Prepare cleaning solution made up of one part white vinegar and one part water. Place it in a spray bottle. Spray the seal of the door with this mixture. Allow it to dissolve molds and mildew for at least 30 minutes. It will help loosen up the debris so you can easily wipe it off.

Step 4: After 30 minutes, get clean towel and dampen it with water. Wipe off the debris around the rubber gasket. This will remove the initial dirt you can see outside the washer.

Step 5: For the areas that are more difficult to reach, dip the towel in the vinegar mixture and reach the moldy areas. You can also use an old toothbrush. Dip it in the cleaning solution and brush off those areas.

Step 6: Wash the cloth in clean water and wring out the excess moisture. Use damp towel to rinse the seal. Wipe it off and remove remaining debris.

Step 7: Get dry cloth this time and wipe the interior of the machine. Wipe the washer drum. Wipe the rubber gasket and the exterior of the machine. Leave the door open so air can circulate inside and dry up the parts you haven't cleaned.

You can substitute vinegar with lemon juice. Some people also use bleach but this might damage the rubber gasket and speed up its deterioration. If the rubber gasket is too dirty and too damaged, you should have it replaced with a new one. Use the steps mentioned above to clean the gasket regularly to prolong its life. After every washing cycle, leave the front door open to avoid the appearance of molds.

Washing Machines Reviews - Top Load Agitator Vs Top Load High Efficiency

!±8± Washing Machines Reviews - Top Load Agitator Vs Top Load High Efficiency

There is no question about it-top load high efficiency washers are better choices. But for the record, let us run through the differences of top load agitator washers and top load high efficiency washers.

The usual top loading washing machines use agitators to clean the clothes. This agitator is responsible in churning the clothes to get rid of the dirt and grime in your laundry. However, this is also the cause of the many disadvantages of top loaders.

For one thing, the agitator takes up more space. This limits a top loader's laundry capacity. You can wash more clothes if the agitator is not present. This is where top load high efficiency washing machines come in.

The following are the striking difference in using a top loading high efficiency washer:

Missing Agitator
Instead of the usual agitator, it is replaced with a wash plate that is located at the bottom of the washer. This wash plate enables the washing machine to spin the clothes in a centrifugal motion. Since there is no more agitator, it can clean more clothes.

Better Cleaning Action
It has been purported to clean better. The centrifugal action infuses more detergent and water in the fabric of your clothes so it seeps in and gets rid of even the most stubborn dirt and grime.

Gentle on Your Laundry's Fabric
It is better for clothes because there is no agitator that can destroy the fabric. The centrifugal action in this type of washers helps detergent penetrate in the fabric in a gentle manner. It is like a cross between a front loader and top loader.

Energy And Water Efficient
You can find most top loading high efficiency washers that are Energy Star Compliants. The latest models today have passed the Energy savings requirements and have garnered quite good reviews. Not only that, you do not need to fill the washer tub with a lot of water. The centrifugal washing action infuses more water into your laundry so you won't be needing more of it.

Front load washing machines have often placed top load washing machines under the shade. It is a good thing that science has found a way to improve this otherwise traditional washing machine.

Top load high efficiency washing machine is a good investment. It is even cheaper than buying front loaders. If you do not like the disadvantages of using front loaders, try this high efficiency washer instead.
